Pedestrian Detection Using Stereo and Biometric Information

چکیده
A method for pedestrian detection from real world outdoor scenes is presented in this paper. The technique uses disparity information, ground plane estimation and biometric information based on the golden ratio. It can detect pedestrians even in the presence of severe occlusion or a lack of reliable disparity data. It also makes reliable choices in ambiguous areas since the pedestrian regions are initiated using the disparity of head regions. These are usually highly textured and unoccluded, and therefore more reliable in a disparity image than homogeneous or

In-vehicle Pedestrian Detection Using Stereo Vision Technology
In the last 3 decades, between 4378 (in 2008) and 8090 (in 1979) pedestrians were killed each year in motor vehicle related crashes, representing 11% to 17% of the total roadway fatalities. Although the numbers of pedestrian deaths have been in decline steadily since 1980, their distributions have become more and more concentrated in urban areas. There is an urgent need to develop reliable pede...
متن کاملFast Stixel Computation for Fast Pedestrian Detection
Applications using pedestrian detection in street scene require both high speed and quality. Maximal speed is reached when exploiting the geometric information provided by stereo cameras. Yet, extracting useful information at speeds higher than 100Hz is a non-trivial task. We propose a method to estimate the ground-obstacles boundary (and its distance), without computing a depth map. By properl...
متن کاملMeasurement of Pedestrian Groups Using Subtraction Stereo
In this paper, detection of pedestrian groups and counting of the number of pedestrians in each group using “subtraction stereo” are discussed. Subtraction stereo is a stereo vision method that focuses on the movement of objects to make a stereo camera robust and produces range images for moving regions. Pedestrian groups are detected with a standard labeling, and three dimensional (3D) feature...
متن کاملA Multi-Pedestrian Detection and Counting System Using Fusion of Stereo Camera and Laser Scanner
Automated vehicle counting technology has been in use for many years, but developments in automated pedestrian counting technology have been limited. Pedestrians are more difficult to detect, track and count because their paths are much less constrained. In this paper, we present an advanced pedestrian counting system using a stereo camera and a laser scanner. A mapping algorithm has been devel...
متن کاملBuilding Pedestrian Contour Hierarchies for Improving Detection in Traffic Scenes
This paper presents a new method for extracting pedestrian contours from images using 2D and 3D information obtained from a stereo-vision acquisition system. Two pedestrian contour types are extracted. First is obtained from static pedestrian confidence images using fixed background scenes and second from general traffic scenes having variable background. A robust approach for building contour ...
